My final product has used basic conventions of a
magazine and challenged some conventions. On my front cover I have mainly used
basic conventions such as, masthead, coversine’s, promotion, barcode and price.
I researched magazines and noticed that theses are the conventions mainly used
on a front cover. When I did my research I took a look at my genre magazines
(hard rock/ metal) such as kerrang! And metal hammer. I challenged the
convention of how to display the free posters on my magazine, I found one
kerrang magazine that display it the same but it stills challenges the
conventions. But I haven’t challenged most of the conventions; I have just used
them normally such as barcode +price, masthead, main image and tagline.
First
of all I created my masthead “RHP” which stands for Rock In A Hard Place, I
placed it going across the top of my magazine because it’s the conventional way
to display it. The name of my magazine links in with the genre of my magazine.
For my main image I used a medium close up which is very commonly used, my
image gives off my genre because Chris (the man in my image) it does this
because Chris has dread locks and he has tattoos which is similar to my audience,
also he is dressed like my audience would dress such as band t-shirt and baggie
jeans.
