7. Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?
7. Looking back at your preliminary
task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full
product?
I believe I
have massively progressed on Photoshop since my preliminary task and final full
product. On my preliminary task I didn’t use very many of the tools, but on my full
product I used loads of tools such as magic wand tool and lasso tool. I use
these tools to cut out things on my photographs, I didn’t even know how to use
these tools when I was doing preliminary tasks.
I did a lot of editing on my final product with text; I put drop shadows
on it, inner glow on some of them. I realized I needed to put more planning in
my photographs for my full product, with my prelim task I didn’t put much
planning into it so the pictures didn’t turn out very good, but on my final
product I put a lot of planning into it and the pictures came out considerably
better. It did take up a lot more time but it is worth it.
6. What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?
6. What have you learnt about
technologies from the process of constructing this product?
During the
creation of my media product I have learnt how to use all the settings on the
camera, and when it is appropriate when it is used to each one. I also learnt
about the importance of using your lighting to an advantage. I used a memory
stick to transfer the work from school so I could work at home. The camera I
used was a Sony camera. When taking my photographs I used a tripod most of the
time. I found the photographs I used the tripod on where better, I think they
came out better because I could take photos from more angles the tripod gave me
more options. The tripod didn’t take long to learn how to use it. I learnt
about the importance of using blogger to show all my work and to show were I
have improved, I can also show all my research on the blog and I can compare my
magazine to my style model on it for everyone to see. Also I learnt about how
Facebook and twitter are very good for audience feedback. The apple mac was the
most important piece of equipment I learnt how to use; it has all the software
you need on it. Such as Photoshop, it took me a while to learn how to use it
but it was a must learn because that’s what I put my magazine together on.

5. How did you attract/address your audience?
5. How did you attract/address your
audience?
I attracted my audience with the fonts I used, colours I used and how
I displayed my photographs. The fonts I used were big, bold and dark. I did
this to make it stand out on a white background and attract my audience. I used
a few colours but mainly white and red, white gives it a clean look often done
by kerrang, I also put on a blood red because it has a nice contrast with the
white and it will appeal to my audience. My picture gives off a hard rock vibe.
It does this because in the picture Chris has dread locks and a massive beard,
which is often the appearance of people into hard rock/ heavy metal.
4. Who would be the audience for your media product?
4. Who would be the audience for your
media product?
My audience is 16 to 25 year olds, its aimed more towards males than
it is females but some females will fined it appealing. It’s also
Aimed at people who are into hard rock/ heavy metal; such as black
label society, the wild hearts and Metallica. It’s also aimed at people people
who love going to live music events. The people where baggie jeans, denim
jackets and baggie t-shirts that usually have a band on, this is how they are
shown on the front of my magazine, Chris is wearing baggie jeans and a kiss
t-shirts.
3. What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?
3. What kind of media institution might distribute your media
product and why?
An
institution is a company that distributes a product for the audience’s
consumption of that product. The sort of institution to distribute my music
magazine would be IPC media or Bauer media; I think it would be these two
because they’re two of the biggest media institutions in Europe. But they
wouldn’t distribute them straight to the audiences; they would distribute them
to the likes of WHSmith. WHSmith would then make it available for the audiences
to get hold of my music magazine. I think IPC media are more likely to be the
institution to distribute my music magazine over Bauer media, I think this
because Bauer media already do kerrang!, mojo and Q magazine. Where as IPC
media only do one music magazine which is NME.
