The Bauer media group
The Bauer media group was founded in 1875 by the Bauer family
and has been run by them since the company has started and was originally
called heinrich bauer Verlag KG (HBV), it has gone through multiple
generations. The Bauer headquarters is in Hamburg Germany. They see there
selves as a long running family business, they also see there selves as one of
the biggest media groups owning over 300 magazines in 15 different countries
and employing a some of 6400 people.
Bauer are involved with pretty much all media platforms e.g.
online, radio, TV and magazine. For example they own Kerrang!, bike, Rock fm. I
think the dominant platform is online because you can do everything online. You
can watch TV and all your films on Netflix, you can listen to music on youtube
and you can listen to different radio stations on the internet. Also now you can read magazine online. There
for I think online is the dominant one because it has no limitations and it
already covers all platforms but it in one.

I think Bauer will to most audiences because of the different
brands they own, they will own a brand that will appeal to kids, adult, male
and females. I think they specialise in music related platforms, Bauer own lots
of different music magazines such as Kerrang!. They also own a lot of different
radio stations and websites that are music based. Bauer operate in 15 different
countries in total so they are not local. I believe that Bauer don’t just have
one class, I think this because they have so many brands that are on TV, Online
or on the radio. There for I think the isn’t just one class because anyone can
listen to the radio or go on the internet.
Recently Bauer have had some bad press with The Guardian
publishing an article saying that the Bauer Media group are pro-Nazi. This may
have an effect on the sales of their magazine because the buyers don’t want to
support people who are pro-Nazi. Also this gives a bad image to the Bauer
family who founded the company and have been running it ever since.
